...to listen to Edward II on BBC Radio 3, which I highly recommend you do, because it is in fact quite good, albeit with some really dodgy French accents. I listened to it last night with faithhopetricks and did not think of Dobby the House Elf at all.

Those of us in the States should be able to hear it too, via the website's "Listen Again" feature; it usually goes up shortly after the original broadcast and is available for a week.

I am going to this.

It was 20 bucks and I will happily stand up for 75 minutes to see Edward II at CST. Especially since with the standing-room tickets you get to wander around the action. AWESOME.

This sort of thing is why I'm glad I live a mere five hours from Chicago.

So I was going to do a book meme borrowed from tree_and_leaf when I found something much more interesting, since one of the books closest to me is Carole Levin's The Heart and Stomach of a King: Elizabeth I and the Politics of Sex and Power. In context, this is talking about sacralized monarchy, Maundy Thursday, and touching for the evil.
